MHC FORWARD

MHC Forward: 2024 Strategic Plan

In 2024 the College announced its ambitious new strategic plan, MHC Forward, which maps an audacious vision for Mount Holyoke’s next decade and beyond. The plan establishes four key priorities (or pillars), one of which is Operational Leadership, which will make bold and necessary investments to advance teaching and learning, preserve the beauty of our campus, and support our commitments to accessibility, sustainability and inclusive excellence.

VISION

What is a Comprehensive Campus Plan?

The main goal of this plan is to ensure Mount Holyoke “forever shall be". Mount Holyoke has commenced a comprehensive planning process that will continue through Fall 2025 in support of the larger MHC Forward strategic plan. An interdisciplinary team of planners and designers from Sasaki will be supporting the visioning and planning process in partnership with the Mount Holyoke community. Throughout this process, students, faculty, staff, alums and other key stakeholders will help shape the vision for the development of this historic campus.

The campus plan intersects the planning and utilization of the College’s physical assets with the College’s curriculum, majors, student residential life, student experiential life, alum engagement and experience and staff and faculty experience. The plan will enable the College to make both current operational decisions and long-term investment decisions around infrastructure.

The new comprehensive plan will respond to the existing needs of the MHC community and integrate with ongoing projects on campus, including the transition to geothermal energy and residence hall renovations. Throughout this process, we will also focus on accessibility, climate planning and fiscal sustainability.

We are excited to hear from you about your experience of the Mount Holyoke College campus and your vision for its future. Some of the key focus areas of the plan are listed below, but feel free to share any comments you feel could help inform the planning process.

Throughout the comprehensive planning process, there will be opportunities to provide feedback on key spaces across the campus, including residence halls, classrooms and gathering spaces.

Determining which buildings and landscapes on Mount Holyoke’s historic campus are supporting the needs and desires of the community will be the focus of the first planning phase.
